As we look forward to spring and consider new things in the year 2012, one thing you may want to consider is adding a new certification behind your CCM. Go to http://abquarp.org/certification.asp to find information on becoming certified in Transition of Care processes which is receiving a lot of emphasis with healthcare reform.
Also March 23 and 24 begins opening arguments to the supreme court on whether the government can mandate that all Americans carry healthcare insurance. A decision is expected in June. News that Impacts Case Management
Shelly Kinney, RN, MSN, CCM, CNLCP and member of the Nebraska Chapter of CMSA will be a presenter at the CMSA National conference in June.
As a Nurse Life Care Planner Shelly will discuss why and how a life care plan is developed and what is included. She will advise on how this tool can help case managers manage the challenging situations of complex/catastrophic cases.
A Nurse Life Care Planner creates a document to guide decision-making now and for the clients life expectancy. Life care plans include future evaluations, medical care, anticipated complications and interventions, DME, levels of assistance, assistive technology, and much more.
Shelly is the committee chair for the Editorial Committee. She will be co-presenting with Wendie Howland from Massachusetts, Editor of the Journal of Nurse Life Care Planning for the American Association of Life Care Planners (AANLCP).
